Old school silver services are often one-stop shopping deals, every piece from the same manufacturer. Not that there’s anything wrong with that — usually grand and ornate, you’d be a fool to to turn one away should it come into your home.
Not so here. In addition to coffee pot, sugar bowl and creamer, included is a salt shaker and pepper mill and some other cups to fill out the tray (silver plated) and hold whatever else might be needed.
The vintage horn-handled coffee pot is an eBay find, sterling silver, made in France.
The sugar bowl and creamer with a swooping curved shape and elegantly embellished handles, were wedding presents to my grandmother. Sterling silver with weighted bottoms for stability. Circa 1920s.
Center cup, sterling silver, Tiffany & Co. Monogrammed. They’ve made this model forever.
Contemporary salt shaker and pepper mill in a silver alloy.
Sterling baby cup, Stiff, engraved, 1959.
Keep everything shiny. Add your monogram here and there, but not everywhere.
Nothing says “I hope I can offer you my warm hospitality” quite as nicely as a warm and welcoming silver service.
